Test automation tools like HP Quality Center and IBM Rational ClearQuest are used by software engineering teams to drive quality assurance and testing during the software development process. These tools can drive repeatability and consistency in the test execution process. In addition, it would make them as a great choice for functional and regression testing. However, they do rely on the availability of a test bed for the execution of the tests, and thats where we see virtual lab automation (VLA) playing a key role.

With a VLA integration into the test automation tools, users can easily access a readily available clean test bed for every test job deployment. VLA can also drastically reduce the administration overhead associated with managing the test machine farm. This paper provides an overview of how the VMLogix LabManager integration with IBM Rational ClearQuest would work and benefit the users.

VMLogix LabManager has an integration available with the HP Quality Center and IBM Rational ClearQuest. Surgient VQMS has an integration available with HP Quality Center. VMware Lab Manager has an out of the box integration with Borland SilkCentral Test Manager and HP Quality Center.
